Chamin

Born and raised in the high-rise cityscape of south Korea, my childhood was surrounded by concrete rather than nature. Although I painted consistently, I often found myself searching for a subject that truly moved me. That search ended when I immigrated to Canada in my twenties.

Moving to Canada was a turning point for my artistry. Surrounded by breathtaking landscapes at every turn, I felt a profound urge to capture these scenes on canvas. Now, my work is a way of preserving the beautiful moments I encounter and sharing that sense of wonder with those around me. What started as a search for 'what to paint' has become a joyful journey of documenting the natural beauty .

My creative path has been one of deep exploration, leading me through the delicate layers of watercolour, the precision of graphite and coloured pencil, and the modern flexibility of Procreate. However, my journey eventually led me to oil painting, which has become my primary medium. I am captivated by the depth, texture, and vibrant colour profiles that oil can provide.
