MJ Batek

MJ Batek, a former Private in the Communications Reserve and one of the first female Artillery Officers in Canada, has found solace in art. In 2018, she represented Canada at the International Veterans Art Exhibition during the Invictus Games in Sydney, Australia. Her self portrait was chosen to symbolize her country. Now, she explores acrylic painting with palette knives to add texture and depth to her work. Using art as a form of therapy, she aims to heal from the effects of PTSD and military domestic violence.
