Michelle Neilson

Michelle’s artistic journey began with her fine arts studies at the University of Alberta, where she focused on painting and sculpture. During this time, she also contributed a regular cartoon strip to the university newspaper, sparking a lasting passion for visual storytelling. This creative thread continued in Montreal, where she contributed to the Concordia student paper.

Now based in Gibsons, BC, Michelle has returned to her artistic roots. She is currently working on a series of acrylic paintings on wood that delve into themes of consciousness.

Are we more than mind and body? Does a collective consciousness exist? What happens if AI becomes conscious? Drawing inspiration from Picasso, Miró, Banksy, and the uncensored curiosity of a child painting for the first time, Michelle embraces her inner child—and invites you to join her on this imaginative journey.
