Patricia De Jesus
Based in Vancouver, Patricia began her artistic journey after studying Art History at the University of British Columbia and volunteering at various galleries. She developed her practice through plein air painting with artist collectives and is heavily inspired by the stylistic methods of Claude Monet and J.M.W. Turner. Their expressive use of colour, light, and loose, gestural brushwork informs her approach to landscape painting, where atmosphere and sensation take precedence over precise representation.
Moving beyond realism, her work explores the relationship between perception, memory, and imagination. By reconstructing landscapes from memory rather than direct observation, Patricia creates dreamlike environments that blur the boundaries between the familiar and the imagined. Her paintings approach landscape not simply as a representation of place, but as an expression of how it is remembered, perceived, and felt.
