Shelley Hordiyuk
Based in Victoria, BC, Shelley Hordiyuk is a former music teacher and classical choir singer who discovered a new creative path after retiring in 2016. Her transition to visual art marked a transformative period, leading her to become a devoted painter.
Shelley’s work invites viewers to notice the beauty of their natural surroundings. Through intuitive use of colour and lyrical expression, she interprets the essence of the world around her—finding inspiration in the curve of a tree, the shifting sky before a storm, and artistic influences ranging from music and sculpture to street art. Working primarily in acrylic, Shelley also explores collage, pastel, and oil.
She paints in the quiet of her home studio, sustained by Victoria’s finest coffee and an ever-growing collection of photographs capturing fleeting moments of light and form. Shelley has received Juror’s Choice Awards for her work and has exhibited in galleries in London (UK), Vancouver, and Victoria. Her paintings are held in private collections across Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
