Shawn Stibbards
Stibbards' paintings have been exhibited in Canada, United States, and Europe. His work explores challenging subject matters and shows how repetition and colour can lull the viewer into accepting imagery that would normally disturb them. On occasion, it has caused controversy. In 2005, some of his paintings were removed from an exhibit at the North Vancouver District Hall, due to public complaints. The event was covered widely in the media, and sparked debate about censorship.
