Mónica G. Suárez
Mónica G. Suárez (Spain, 1978) is a multidisciplinary visual artist based in Vancouver, Canada. Her practice encompasses painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, and muralism, and is characterized by a profound exploration of the human condition, memory, and the nature of existence. Trained from an early age—she began her artistic education at the age of six—she received early recognition with the Artecal Prize in 1997.
Throughout her career, she has exhibited at various cultural institutions in Spain and Portugal, including the Faculty of Fine Arts in Madrid, Fórum da Maia, Sala Borrón, and La Salina. In 2015, she deepened her pictorial language under the mentorship of masters such as Antonio López, developing a distinctive approach to symbolic and emotional representation. In parallel, she has built a notable career spanning over fifteen years as a lighting director in animated film.
This experience has significantly enriched her use of light as a symbolic and expressive element in her visual work. She currently balances private commissions with an artistic investigation focused on existential themes.
