Kate MacDonald
Kate MacDonald is an multidisciplinary artist working in pixels and paint. Her art has been exhibited worldwide and her paintings featured in Wired and international editions of GQ magazine. She has been recognized at a Top Ten Digital Artist in international competition in 2012, 2017 and again this year by the Los Angeles Center for Digital Art (LACDA).
Kate’s work captures surreal scenes, transcending ordinary experience and evolving into magical worlds of the everyday. Against backdrops of nature, beauty coexists alongside dread, an uneasy alliance charging the work with a humble and sometimes uncomfortable grace. Underlining all of it is the idea of redemption. Will beauty redeem us? Nature? Technology? Her recent paintings dive deep into her dreams, expanding out to embrace a larger consciousness and revealing what she really sees when she gazes out across the yard. She shares a studio and collaborates with artist Les Sears as K8L35.
