Mahzad Rostami
Mahzad Rostami is an Iranian visual artist based in Vancouver, whose work explores the poetic space between memory, migration, and belonging. Rooted in memories of Iran and shaped by the experience of migration and living between two worlds, her paintings unfold as dreamlike landscapes where women, horses, birds, flowers, and the moon become symbols of memory, freedom, and connection.
Working primarily in acrylic, she uses layered colour, expressive forms, and symbolic imagery to explore what we carry with us when we leave a place behind—the memories that remain, the distance that transforms us, and the longing for somewhere to call home. Her work exists in the space between departure and arrival, longing and the desire to live, loss and hope.
