Douglas Alexander

Douglas Alexander is a contemporary abstract painter who has been following his passion for painting for more than 15 years.  Working from his home studio in White Rock, BC, Douglas draws inspiration from the ever-changing colours, light and energy of the ocean, as well as from places, people and impressions gathered during his travels.

His acrylic paintings are playful, colourful, and highly textured, often blending bold blocks of colour, expressive marks and palette-knife work. Rather than telling the viewer exactly what to see, Douglas enjoys leaving room for the imagination-sometimes a shoreline, and sometimes simply a feeling. For Douglas, painting is about having fun, experimenting and seeing where the canvas wants to go.

Each piece is a little journey, and he hopes viewers enjoy taking that journey with him.
