Martin Na
I am Martin Na, a joyful nomad utterly obsessed with the color blue. Born in Korea and now tracing the coastline of Vancouver, I don't insist on embracing the 'wider world' in one go. Instead, I choose to liberate and abstractly unravel every moment of the world onto the canvas. Blue is my native tongue, the secret whispered to me by the deep sea. Through this color, I become my most free self. While I once only breathed in the quiet grandeur of nature, lately, I find the fast, irregular rhythm and the gray noise of the city equally compelling. Therefore, my work is a playful dance unfolding on the boundary of these two worlds. I show how the gentle heave of the sea can surge up into concrete buildings, and how the cold gaze of the city shatters into the warmest, most playful shade of blue. With my brushstrokes, I ask you: "What abstract vibration is your inner world painting right now? I hope you join me in discovering the joyful possibilities within this blue.
