Sonja Kobrehel

For Sonja Kobrehel, the canvas is a stage where emotion, concept, pattern, and form come together in a dynamic play of colour and light. Her paintings invite viewers to slow down, explore subtle details, and discover personal meaning within each composition.

Offering moments of calm and introspection, her work creates space for reflection in an increasingly fast-paced world. Based in British Columbia, Canada, Sonja lived and worked in Vancouver for over twenty years before relocating to Powell River, where her studio thrives with colour and inspiration. A graduate of the Art Academy of Novi Sad/ex.Yugoslavia, she represents Canadian art by choice.

Over the past three decades, her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, featured in numerous publications, and recognized with multiple awards. Her eclectic practice includes abstract and semi-abstract painting, collage, drawing, and mixed media, unified by a strong emotional and visual presence.
