Kathryn Grace

Kathryn Grace is a contemporary abstract artist whose work explores memory, emotional landscapes, and the quiet tension between presence and absence. Rooted in process and materiality, her paintings are often informed by place, both physical and internal.

During time spent in southern France, particularly in Roussillon, she began working directly with raw ochre pigments sourced from the surrounding landscape, allowing the land itself to enter the work. Her practice is intuitive and embodied, favoring restraint, texture, and subtle gesture over overt narrative. Through layered surfaces and muted palettes, Kathryn investigates themes of belonging, erosion, and return, how environments shape us, and how we carry them long after we leave.

Rather than depicting specific locations, her paintings function as emotional residues of place: traces of light, soil, and time, translated into abstract form. Her work invites slow looking and quiet reflection, offering space for viewers to locate their own experiences within the surface.
