Doris Fiedrich
Doris Fiedrich is a German-Canadian photographer living in Vancouver. In her street photography, she looks for the unexpected moments that disappear almost as quickly as she can raise her camera. She records people’s unselfconscious behaviours and gestures with an observant eye. Years of experience as a portrait, event, and dance photographer have sharpened her artistry; she responds with ease and instinctively. Doris’s work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions, including at Kino Café, Artists in our Midst, PhotoHaus Gallery, Zack Gallery, and The Gallery George. It has been published online and in print, including in Vancouver Exposed by Eve Lazarus and Blue Mitchell’s Diffusion X Annual. Doris uses creative techniques such as slow shutter movement, multiple exposures, and experimentation with mixed media. Her practice has been influenced, among others, by Joel Meyerowitz, Elliott Erwitt, Alec Soth and Gordon Smith.
