Maryam Fasaie

I am an Iranian-Canadian symbolic figurative painter based in Vancouver. My work explores the human condition through symbolic and narrative compositions, creating layered images that reflect emotional depth and the complexities of contemporary life.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and a certificate in Accounting from Iran, alongside a background in traditional Iranian miniature painting, and later pursued English studies at Capilano University. In recent years, I have focused on oil painting, developing my practice through independent study, formal and online art training, and a sustained study of classical Old Master techniques, while incorporating elements of miniature painting into my work.

My practice is informed in part by my experience of losing vision in one eye at the age of three, shaping a perspective that continues to influence my work.
