Jenna Barr

Jenna Barr is a Canadian contemporary visual artist based in the Pacific Northwest. Her practice has been profoundly shaped by a childhood immersed in the diverse landscapes of British Columbia. Growing up, her family frequently relocated, allowing her to experience the vast beauty of B.C’s forests, mountains, and coastlines.

Amidst these constant changes, art became a coping mechanism, offering a grounding sense of connection to her homeland. She later formalized her interest in art by earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of the Fraser Valley.

Barr’s practice is rooted in the exploration of patterns and structures documented from the natural world. Employing intricate dot work, abstract compositions, and fluid forms, she investigates the interplay between nature’s patterns and human expression. Imbued with a sense of playfulness, Barr reinterprets her natural surroundings from a childlike perspective that celebrates curiosity and imagination.
