Jarod Liebenberg

J.J. Liebenberg is a Canadian/South African tattoo artist, illustrator, and best-selling author based out of Vancouver’s historic Gastown district. A lover of the experimental and unexpected, his techniques and mediums are constantly changing.

His artistic style focuses heavily on dense line work, repeated patterns, and varied line weights to create a unique textured experience when viewing. It is a style that is heavily influenced by German Expressionism, Pop Art, and Japanese Contemporary movements. The intention is to be equal parts whimsical and grotesque in execution such that more nuanced messages and emotions can be conveyed at a single glance. Now exhibiting pieces from his mixed-medium illustrative series titled: "Sublime Resonance".

The series focuses on themes of maximalism and consumption as it pertains to continued urbanization, inspired by his time traveling between various major cities around the world and seeing how their faces change over the decades.
