Sylvester Aigbogun

Born on December 8, 1972, in the vibrant city of Lagos, Nigeria, Sylvester is a contemporary artist known for his colourful, stylized and thought-provoking paintings. His artistic journey began at Yaba College of Technology, where he honed his skills and received a Higher National Diploma in Painting in 1998. Over the years, Sylvester participated in numerous group exhibitions where his work has been showcased in venues like the National Museum Lagos and Terra Culture, Lagos. In 2020, Sylvester expanded his creative reach with his solo virtual exhibition, “Shanty Aesthetics”. Recent group exhibitions, including “October Rain” (2023) and “Woven Imaginations” (2024) continue to highlight his dynamic artistic vision. Sylvester's work is characterized by its rich colour palettes, materiality, and the ability to convey deep emotions and narratives. Through his art, he offers a compelling exploration of identity, culture, and the human experience, solidifying his place in the Nigerian art scene.
