Kris Aggerholm
Kris Aggerholm is a Trinidadian born abstract acrylic artist whose work explores the dynamic relationship between color, texture, and emotion. Working primarily with combining acrylic paints, pastels, crayons, markers and other mediums to create vibrant, expressive compositions that often explore themes of childlike expression. Her artistic process is also spontaneous, often layering thick strokes of paint, modelling paste and texture gels and manipulating the surface with palette knives to create textured, multi-dimensional pieces. There is a feeling of play and exploration felt in each piece. As her process has developed so has the way she creates her work. Her art has evolved by releasing expectations, limitations and finding the beauty in the messy process of creation, through times of soul shattering growth. What can you produce when you allow yourself to play? What is ready to be expressed ? What is bubbling at the surface ? How do those emotions affect the way you want to create ? The Bulls Eye Series explores what emerges when we embrace the uninhibited creativity of a child and let it flow without restriction.
