Natalie Reynolds

"I paint rich tableaux and fantastical landscapes in black and bright colour – I approach the canvas in a spontaneous and informal manner via a deluge of thick oil and acrylic. A deciduous woodland adjacent to my childhood home acts as fodder for the hints at creatures, warped figures, hidden treasures, and biomorphic shapes. These often act as metaphors to personal experience of anxiety, body image, breaking through limitations, and coming of age in the 1970's-80's. Loose narratives are built during the painting process and are not pre-determined. What is left are emotive works often best interpreted by the viewer."
