Anna Kovalenko
Anna Kovalenko is a talented 16-year-old artist from Ukraine who has remained in Kharkiv since the onset of the full-scale invasion and has witnessed all the tortures that haunted the city.
In her works, Anya aims to capture the often unnoticed things and thoughts that surround us, preserving them to ensure they are not forgotten and can be shared with others.
The war in Ukraine has profoundly changed the young artist’s perspective on both the world and art. Driven by a fear of forgetting, Anya decided to start documenting the war and look for meanings in everyday reality, ensuring that this terrible experience left a lasting impression on our memories and history.
Her documentation journey has evolved from simple sketches in a notebook to large-format pieces, posters, and written reflections. One notable series is "People-Houses," which will be featured at our Freedom Salon exhibition from February 19 to March 2 at the George Gallery.
