Since its inception in 1986, the Surrey Hospice Society has been a steadfast companion to individuals and families facing the end of life and navigating grief. The Society’s mission has always been simple yet profound: to provide compassionate, professional, and free support to those who need it most during life’s most vulnerable moments.

The Surrey Hospice Society is deeply committed to serving people of all cultures, languages, religions, and ethnicities, with a focus on inclusivity and equity. As a non-partisan, non- denominational organization, we ensure that anyone in need of support is welcome and cared for, regardless of background.

In a community as diverse as Surrey, this commitment is especially important, as we strive to create a compassionate environment where no one has to face the journey of loss alone.

Our Services: Compassionate Support for All

The Surrey Hospice Society provides an array of free programs that aim to ease the emotional, practical, and spiritual burdens of individuals and families who are navigating end-of-life care or grief.

These services include:

• Palliative Support: Offering individuals facing terminal illness companionship to help them peace, dignity, and comfort as they approach the end of their life.

• Grief and Bereavement Counselling: Assisting those coping with the loss of loved ones, helping them to process grief and find healing, whether the loss is recent or from many years ago.

• Volunteer Companionship: Our volunteers, known as “Companions for the Journey,” provide crucial emotional support to patients and families, offering companionship, comfort, and a listening ear during some of life’s most challenging times.

• Support Groups: Facilitating groups that allow individuals to connect with others going through similar experiences, fostering a sense of community and understanding.

• Public education: offering classes, seminars, and workshops to community groups, organizations and the public on various topics pertaining to end-of-life, grief, ,legacy building as well as helping to build grief and trauma support skills for those organizations and service providers who are also serving the community at large.

All of these services are provided entirely free of charge. For those at the end of life or deep in the throes of grief, the support provided by Surrey Hospice Society is a vital lifeline. It ensures that no one faces these difficult times alone and that families receive the emotional, psychological, and spiritual care they need.
